350,000 Victims claimed by 'Flu' in United States
This Atlanta Constitution story from December 1918 says that the Spanish Flu has likely peaked and that the worst is over. But it wasn't. Nearly a third of all Americans contracted the disease and an estimated 675,000 died. Insurance firms folded.
